god dammit fridge. wtf.
Okay, here's a prompt, this week write about a character competing in a competition of some kind. it can be anything, even a writing competition on a dead gay forum. a 'competition' is anything with a winner, scores, judges, ratings, etc. a sporting event is a competition, a race is a competition, a blue ribbon given for the fattest ass is a competition, any competition. the only stipulation is your character must be really, REALLY into this. imo a major key to being interesting, is to be interested. so whatever this competition is, your character should be really, super interested in it.
again, this can be anything, wizard spell competition, biggest asteroid competition, ugliest goblin competition, whatever. any genre, any style, except those excluded below.
words: 1300
usual rules apply, no erotica or fan fiction, no poetry, etc and so on.
i don't enjoy giving losses and DMs so there won't be any of those this week.
stories are due by sunday midnight PST
signups due by friday at 4pm PST
so, that's the normal stuff. that's all you need to read to enter. you can stop here and go write a story if you want.
but i am incapable of not making things complicated, so here is some more stuff.
flash:if writing is too easy, and you want some extra challenge, you can let ME pick the competition for you. it will be something obscure and weird probably, and remember you'll need to figure out how to be interested in whatever it is, so beware... if you want to take this risk say 'FLASH' in your sign up post. you will get 400 extra words and a weird competition to write about.
LEVEL 3: if you are a real OG and have written so much youre starting to wonder why ..why write... why do anything at all... here is a challenge for you. there is no reward for doing this except that satisfaction in your soul of being better than everyone who didn't do it. to achieve level 3, pick a subject that you know nothing about, absolutely nothing, and have no interest in, or have never thought about. possibly have a partner or friend pick this for you. read about this obscure subject, figure out how to be interested in it, make up a competition for it, and write your story about that. this is a self challenge and is completely optional, of course. but there it is, for bragging rights. i can't pick this one for you because i dont know what you dont know and are or are not already interested in. challenge yourself! go read on wikipedia for an hour about some weird thing you've never heard of! then figure out how to make it competitive! have fun! or dont!
